En 2009, la société de production Autour de Minuit décide de produire le moyen métrage « Le Livre des Morts » le projet d’Alain Escalle, après avoir obtenu le soutien de la chaine ARTE France pour aider le film et le diffuser lors de ses programmes. Grâce à une aide de la Région Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, le tournage du film prendra place sur les haut plateaux enneigés d’Auvergne, dans la région de Clermont-Ferrand et la ville de Thiers . Quelques mois plus tard, c’est au tour d’un tournage en studio dans la banlieue Parisienne, afin d’intégrer un ensemble de comédiens et danseurs sur un plateau fond vert dans les décors du film. Après un long travail de cinq années, Alain Escalle termine le projet qui s’inspire des évènements de la seconde guerre mondiale, dans un environnement se situant entre la biélorussie et la Pologne. La structure du film s’appuie sur le trajet dramatique des trains transportants, malades mentaux, opposants politiques, peuple juif et homosexuels jusqu’aux camps de concentrations. Un nouveau montage et de nouveaux effets visuels viennent augmenter le film à l’été 2018. L’édition du livre à tirage limité est aujourd’hui épuisée.

In 2009, the production company Autour de Minuit decided to produce the medium-length film « Le Livre des Morts », the project of Alain Escalle, after having obtained the support of the ARTE France channel to help the film and broadcast it during its programs . Thanks to help from the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region, the filming will take place on the snow-covered high plateaus of Auvergne, in the region of Clermont-Ferrand and the town of Thiers. A few months later, it was the turn of a studio shoot in the Parisian suburbs, in order to integrate a group of actors and dancers on a green screen set into the film’s sets. After a long work of five years, Alain Escalle completed the project which was inspired by the events of the Second World War, in an environment located between Belarus and Poland. The structure of the film is based on the dramatic journey of the trains carrying mentally ill people, political opponents, Jewish people and homosexuals to the concentration camps. New editing and new visual effects enhance the film in summer 2018. The limited edition of the book is now sold out.
